Nature Magazine
Contracted as a short-form video editor for Nature, one of the world's most prestigious scientific journals, as part of its expanding social-first video strategy.
Nature launched on TikTok in early 2026 and has grown to 26k followers organically in its first four months, amassing 207k+ likes and four viral videos, including three that surpassed 300k views each. I was brought into this effort as part of the freelance network being built to scale content output.
Challenge:
Translating complex, peer-reviewed science into short-form vertical video that performs on TikTok, Instagram Reels, YouTube Shorts, and Facebook Reels simultaneously without sacrificing accuracy or Nature's editorial standards.
What I do
Working on a monthly contract, I edit three videos per cycle. The client provides the storyboard, footage, and primary assets. I handle all post-production: editing, motion graphics, asset sourcing, original visual creation, music, sound effects, and captioning in line with Nature's editorial guidelines and style standards.
Videos edited to date:
Functioning ribosome with only 19 amino acids — 23.6k views on Instagram, 8.9k on YouTube, 2.2k on TikTok
Artificial egg holds real conservation promise — 54k views on Instagram, 26.1k on YouTube, 24k on TikTok
Cyclospora outbreak — 124k views on Instagram, 9.5k on TikTok
What's next
More videos in production as Nature continues to scale its short-form content output with new formats and collaborators.
